Are you wondering which varieties of grasses are considered warm season grass? Here is a short list of species that are considered warm season grasses.
- Miscanthus
- Cortaderia
- Pennisetum
- Panicum
- Andropogon
These grasses actively grow during the hottest days of summer. They actually prefer temperatures above 82 degrees F, and will slow their growth as the temperature drops. All these grasses will begin to show signs of growth later in the spring, and some homeowners have been fooled into thinking the plant did not survive the winter because of this trait.
